A quick walkthrough of the artstore's print size step — how to set your dimensions, toggle units, pick your border, and crop to a custom aspect ratio.
Once you've uploaded your image, the artstore gives you full control over your print's final dimensions. You can go with your image's natural ratio or crop to something entirely custom — a square from a landscape, a 1:2 panorama from a portrait, whatever suits the piece.
Start your order by uploading the image file you'd like to print. Your image appears at full size on screen — the artstore now knows your file's native dimensions and is ready for you to set the final print size.
Tip: sign in to your account first so your file is saved to your gallery and available for repeat orders.
In the Image Size box, type the width and height you want your print to be. A toggle at the top of the box switches between millimetres and inches — use whichever you're most comfortable with.
As you change the numbers, the preview updates in real time so you can see how the printed image will compare to the paper sheet.
Below the size controls you'll see four border options — none, the free 25mm standard, 50mm, or 75mm. Pick the one that suits your framing or signing plans.
The border sits around your image, so your chosen image size stays exactly as you entered it. See our full border guide for when to choose which.
By default, the artstore keeps your image's original aspect ratio locked, so your print is proportional to your file. If you want to change the crop — a square from a landscape, a tall panel from a square — you have two ways to do it.
Click the padlock to unlock the size constraint, then type any width and height you like. The print will be cropped to match the aspect ratio you enter.
Grab the corners of the image and drag them to your desired crop visually. The dimensions update live as you drag.
Enlarging beyond your file's native resolution can soften the image. We recommend a minimum of 150 ppi at final print size, and ideally 300 ppi for the best fine art result — see our file size guide for pixel dimensions at common print sizes. Not sure?
